Fillings

i show up
for my second appointment in two days
to mend the disrepair of my mouth
rotten tokens of neglect

cavities are drilled away
and the holes plastered over
with tooth-colored composites

i smile in front of the mirror
and it is the most pristine vision
i have seen in more than a decade

now
if only i could find
a dentist for the soul
